Steampunk!

Steampunk is my latest fashion/aesthetic obsession. With its broiling mixture of the Old West, 19th century science fiction, pirate romanticism, Victorian nostalgia, and alternate-universe, steam-powered, fantastical technology, steampunk has captured my imagination. I've copied this style in a subtle, everyday manner recently, but I wish I had the courage (and resources) to go all the way. Actually, maybe I'll give my burlesque character, Kate Fox, a steampunk makeover. Now SHE could pull it off.

Didn't know about this yet-- very cool! Reminds me of something out of the His Dark Materials trilogy (the Golden Compass) for some reason. What kind of things have you worn in the style?

Hard to describe. I'll post a picture soon! :)

Momnesia -- Steampunk started as a literary movement in Science Fiction about fifteen years ago, and indeed "The Golden Compass" is considered a steampunk-influenced novel, so you've got excellent instincts there. The fashion-related elements only came up a few years ago, thanks to all those wacky comic conventions and such.

Um...literature? Who cares, "Greg" (if that is your real name)?! Books. Bah! The fashion's where it's at. Pffft. READING.
